Sales Intern - Demand Generation

The Sales Intern - Demand Generation is directly responsible for prospecting, qualifying and generating new sales leads to support the sales organization. This individual will be a highly motivated self-starter able to identify and develop new business prospects via phone and using the provided resources and technology to assist the sales organization in creating awareness of the HG Data products. A dynamic personality with a drive to learn is essential. Excellent phone and email skills is a must.

This exciting intern experience will require a 15-20 hours per week commitment. During this time, the intern will become an integral part of the Sales Team. Significant time will be spent on the phone and in email working within the Salesforce.com application and with sales employees to learn how to strategically develop and qualify revenue opportunities.

Job Description

We’re looking for an ambitious and high-energy sales intern to support the company’s sales team. You will work directly with the Sales Team and reach out to prospective clients, including outbound sales emails and phone calls. Specifically, you will:

  • Prepare and analyze sales pipeline reports and dashboards.
  • Send emails to prospects and follow up on leads
  • Have a basic understanding of our solution offerings and operations
  • Schedule client meetings.
  • Build and cultivate prospect relationships by initiating communications and conducting follow-up communications in order to move opportunities through the sales funnel.
  • Manage data for new and prospective clients in Salesforce.com, ensuring all communications are logged, information is accurate and documents are attached.

Qualifications

  • Recent college graduate or current college student (3.0 or higher) majoring in either Business, Marketing, Communications or a directly related field of study
  • Prior experience in a marketing/sales environment preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with managers and other levels of personnel
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent phone skills
  • Well organized and detail oriented
  • Enthusiasm and desire to learn the sales process
  • Self-starter that is punctual with a strong work ethic
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical Experience preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

This is a great role for someone finishing their college career or fresh out of college looking to get into sales or an initial demand generation role.  Since we are a small company with 70+ people, this role will have exposure to all aspects of the revenue generation components of a faced-paced sales organization.
